The Hudson’s Bay Point Blanket Coat is extremely rare and evolved from the iconic Hudson’s Bay Point Blanket. Point blankets were a key item in the fur trade since the 1780s, used by Indigenous peoples and traders, fashioned into warm wrap-style coats called capotes, and later standardized by Hudson’s Bay Co. in the 1920s, becoming a symbol of Canadian winter culture and identity. The “points” (black stitches) indicated blanket size, and the distinctive stripes, initially practical, became synonymous with the brand.

house of mahina
House of Mahina (formerly Makana) crafts fragrance as a living art — drawn from the moon’s quiet glow and the coastal landscapes they call home. Rooted in the ocean’s boundless breath and the beauty of botanicals, each scent is created to linger softly in memory. Blended in small batches in their California studio, their fragrances are never overpowering, always intentional. House of Mahina believes scent should unfold naturally, becoming part of a space rather than announcing itself — something experienced, not explained. Refined yet effortless, House of Mahina is built on Aloha, process, and connection. Driven by a lasting relationship with place, ritual, and the quiet beauty found in everyday moments. Their products are hand-poured and hand-blended in small batches in-house in their Laguna Hills (CA) studio using artisanal techniques.
Each product is hand-crafted from start to finish in the artisanal tradition using the same simple, sustainable ingredients – 100% soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance and essential oils, and lead-free cotton wicking. All candles are poured in recycled glass vessels-simple and clean. Following the Hawaiian tradition of malama i ka ‘aina (caring for the land), they ensure that each product is made and packaged with carefully selected ingredients that are both kind to the environment, and our health. In this spirit, they believe that by taking care of the land and its inhabitants, it will in turn take care of us and provide the gifts of sustenance, balance, health, and well-being.
